| And here comes in the question whether it is better to be loved rather than feared, or feared rather than loved. It might perhaps be answered that we should wish to be both; but since love and fear can hardly exist together, if we must choose between them, it is far safer to be feared than loved. -Il Principe, Niccolo MachiavelliHaven di BernardoGarou Name: Feared-Not-Loved Breed: Homid Clan: Shadow Lords Auspice: Theurge, of the Waning Moon. Rank: Cliath of the Sept of the Dreamer's Eye Height: 5' 7" Weight: 124 lbs. Age: 19 AppearanceHomid:With a lithe build and hair like ruby and gold spun into silk, Haven is the epitome of fine breeding. From the angled features to the finery she dresses in to the alabaster complexion, she is regal in every way she proceeds, be it simply the way she walks or the words she speaks with. Behind her bright, blue eyes is a keen wit, and she tends to always have a honeyed tongue behind a teasing smile. She tends to carry instruments of her station with her- indeed, if one were to observe the bag she carries, they would see that it is not only filled to the brim with bound books, but finely made, at that. Lupis:The wolf that the woman of ruby hair and lips, however, is a far cry from the sylphlike thing she herself was. Haven's lupis form is a truly massive beast, the ink-black pelt that it has truly dark and tenebrous. Were it not for those same bright, ultramarine eyes, the thing would be incredibly difficult to spot at night. The fur of the wolf is thick and well-groomed, shining like obsidian- and she postures herself dominantly, pacing back and forth with a tendency to give a low, soft growl... If only to see the others around her jump. PersonalityArrogance incarnate, Haven is otherwise quite playful and friendly, though dominant. She tends to make sure herself that a person in power is truly deserving of it, and only then will she accept working with them. Otherwise, she is quite happy to depose of them... In any way possible. BackgroundBorn to the noble house of Bernardo within Italy, Haven had a regularly normal childhood. She grew up in relative comfort, was educated as a privelege of her higher station, and was otherwise given the best of resources available to her. And, of course, she took complete advantage of that. One would be surprised how far a cut-throat attitude can get you. The Bernardo house, of course, was supported by the Lords of the Summit, and many of them were kinfolk, working as agents of the Shadow Lords of Italy. And as is custom for the puppeteers, they tended to take advantage of their resources, and attempt to increase their breeding. And then one night, when Haven was fifteen, the family disappeared entirely. And when the Shadow Lords checked upon the distress message they had recieved, they found little Haven, within crinos form, her frenzy having spattered the viscera of her family upon the walls of her childhood home, her darling little sister in her stomach, still feasting upon the body of her mother. Though the Shadow Lords were understandably upset over the loss of their contacts, strategically, it was not as great a loss as it seemed. Thus, when Haven was brought out of Frenzy, and was ready to begin, she was coldly and immediately instructed upon control. The lesson was not kind, but it was better than the alternative. And after all the time training and controlling, and even some training upon rites and rituals, Haven was ready to provide use once more. They set her upon a boat, and she was to travel to England to oversee transactions between the Shadow Lords and some of the nobility. It was nothing truly important, simply a retrieval of a sum of money- but certainly a high task for a cub, and a female, at that; a truly worthy proving task. It was simply a pity that the boat crashed upon Omen. Merits and FlawsStarting Merits- Spoiler:
-
Gall (••): You got moxy, kid. Add an extra die to any Social roll requiring backbone. (Haven is young, but she has that strange magnetism, that pluck, that attracts both sexes, entirely unself-conscious, full of confidence, indifferent to the effect of many things. She is producing and uninfluenced by others, with a mentality far beyond her years. Of course, such spirit is an asset at times, but other times, it may make others think she needs to be broken in.)
Faction Favorite (••): Someone of a tribe/clan/tradition/whatever favor you and will do a good deal to get on your good side, possibly to bring you over to them, especially if you're currently disparate. Note this probably means they expect greatness of you, so don't disappoint them. Alter social difficulties by 2 in your favor when dealing with this faction. (Despite her rather rocky start, Haven has a knack for serving the Shadow Lords. She's smart enough to realize when she's being manipulated, but cautious enough to know when to let herself be manipulated anyway. She's thus far been entirely loyal to the tribe, and has gone through her learnings in stellar form.)
Occult Library (••): You own a decent collection of works on arcane lore, and if you have access to it, can lower difficulties/add dice when trying to solve an occult mystery and/or generally learn more about the occult. Having this library doesn't automatically mean you're an occult expert; it just means you have convenient access to some knowledge. (Haven is a collector, in her spare time. She has amassed quite a trove of knowledge, and she knows a little bit about most everything. Being a Theurge, occult things are often things that she looks into, and she probably has a book on most anything she finds.)
Honeyed Tongue (••): You've sold gallons of snake oil and thousands of deeds to the Brooklyn Bridge, and most customers still think they're satisfied. All subterfuge attempts gain one automatic success. (Not just a skill learned in childhood as a noble, Haven has refined her skill with words within her time with the Shadow Lords- sharpening it 'til the skill is as sharp as a knife, and just as useful.) Starting Flaws- Spoiler:
-
Dark Secret (•): There's something about you which you don't want people to know, and it would be very bad if they did (or at least you think it would be). (Haven ate her family when she frenzied for the first time. Such a thing for a Theurge to do is almost unheard of, but then, 'accidents happen'. However, this doesn't stop the faint suspicion in the back of her head that she may either be bait by the Wyrm, or already somewhat tainted. Were anyone to discover of her past cannibalism, she'd be quite at odds, as the action would surely be evidence of possible Wyrm taint.)
Ulterior Motive (••): You have more reason to be with your comrades than your like for them or for their common goals. Whether this motive is sinister or not, it's a secret for whatever reason, and if you are suspected of this motive, things won't look too good for you. (She's a Shadow Lord. Any group that she joins with is probably involved in one manipulation of the tribe or another. However, when it comes to the goals of the isle, she really couldn't give two whits. Haven wishes to earn higher ranks and power through this accursed isle, since she is stuck here instead of upon England. And she'll not stop until she has her way.)
